Overview

The VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (QCF) is a substantial vocational qualification that will prepare you for a career as a vocational assessor. This qualification is designed for learners aged 19 years or older and will support you to gain employment as a vocational assessor, as the units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role.

This is a practical-based qualification intended for those who assess both occupational competence in the work environment, and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace (i.e. workshop, classroom or other training environment). Entry onto this qualification will require you to have full competence in the vocational subject area that you will be assessing and you will need access to a cohort of learners, so that you can gather evidence of real assessments.

This qualification includes units covering the principles and practices of assessment, assessing learners’ occupational competence in the work place and assessing vocational skills, and knowledge and understanding of education and training.

This qualification is the only Level 3 certificate offered by VTCT in Assessing Vocational Achievement.

Entry level:    

There are no formal prerequisite qualifications that you must have prior to undertaking this qualification.

Course format:          

Practical attendance & assessment:  1 practical session to include Induction / Portfolio + 1 assessment

Coursework: Home study and portfolio of evidence containing questions and assignment work

Training material is emailed to you.

Course content:                    

UV30563 Understanding the principles and practices of assessment

UV30564 Assess occupational competence in the work environment

UV30566 Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding

Duration:       

GLH (Guided Learning Hours): 84. (GLH incl’s. practical, coursework, case studies, assessments)

Home study (Coursework): This can be started at anytime

Attendance:

1 Practical training session + Home study + 2 assessment

 

Model required?:      

Assessments = You will be required to assess students and mark their coursework as part of your assessment

Case studies (assessing) = Yes, you will be required to find your students to practice your assessing for case studies.

The VTCT (Vocational Training & Charitable Trust)

Course Progression: 

On completion of this qualification you may choose to undertake further study; qualifications you could progress to include:

  • Level 3 award in Education & Training (QCF)
  • VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (QCF)

Career Opportunities:          

Self-Employment or Employment as a vocational assessor in the subjects you are qualified in.

What’s included:      

Training material emailed to you. A coursework tutor is assigned to you for full support throughout the course. A VTCT qualification is posted to you on successful completion of the course.

Additional Costs:      

You will need to purchase your own equipment (e.g. assessor resources) and we also recommend you purchase a text book to support your learning, a recommended reading list is supplied with your training pack.

This qualification is mapped to the relevant NOS (National Occupational Standards), where applicable. This qualification is accredited on the qualifications and credit framework (QCF).  This qualification is a VRQ (Vocationally Related Qualification.)
