About Indian Head Massage

Indian Head massage is a traditional Indian technique which has been used as part of a family ritual for thousands of years and is handed down through the generations.  It is part of the ancient healing system they use called ‘Ayurveda’.

It plays an important role in Indian life and infants often receive the massage once or twice a week to keep them in good health, physically and emotionally.

The treatment involves massage and acupressure of the face, scalp, neck, shoulders and upper back. The aim is to release the stress that has accumulated in the tissues, muscles and joints of these areas.

The traditional method involves the client sitting fully clothed in a chair for the treatment.  A range of massage movements incl, deep kneading and compression movements are then applied to the client.  Pressure points are also applied.  The treatment can last anything from 20 minutes to 45 minutes.

The treatment is particularly good for stress relief as well as tension, fatigue, headaches, migraines, insomnia and sinus problems. The after effects of the treatment can leave the client feeling deeply relaxed and calm, as well as more energised.
